Frequently asked questions — Routella pricing

Question 1

Is there really a free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the free plan is permanent, not a trial, and requires no credit card at signup or during use. You get 1 driver, 50 orders per month, 5 delivery routes per month, and one store integration from Routella's 28 supported platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, and more). The multi-language customer tracking page, proof-of-delivery capture, and manual route building are all included on Free. SMS needs a monthly SMS plan, which any plan can add, including Free; WhatsApp needs Growth or Pro. Upgrade whenever you outgrow the limits — you are never cut off mid-delivery.

Question 2

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Billing depends on how you signed up. Merchants who installed Routella through the Shopify App Store are billed by Shopify — charges appear on the regular Shopify invoice alongside other app subscriptions. Everyone else pays Routella directly in USD, month-to-month, with no annual commitment. Plans, prices, and features are identical regardless of billing channel. Add-on usage — SMS from your prepaid wallet and Smart Routing packs — is charged separately on top of the base subscription and works the same way for both Shopify and direct customers.

Question 3

Can I switch plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes — you can upgrade or downgrade at any time from the Settings page with no waiting period or penalty. Shopify merchants are prorated automatically by Shopify's billing system; when you upgrade mid-cycle, you pay only for the remaining days on the new plan. Direct Routella customers are prorated the same way — credit for unused time on your current plan applies toward the next invoice. Prepaid SMS wallet balance and any Smart Routing packs carry over across plan changes and never expire.

Question 4

What happens if I run out of wallet balance?

Accepted Answer

SMS uses a prepaid wallet: when the balance reaches zero, sending fails with a clear in-app error — no message is lost silently, and no customer is notified without your knowledge. Top-ups are instant and reward commitment with bonus credits (+10% at $50, up to +25% at $1,000). Smart Routing includes a monthly allocation of routing stops (250 on Growth, 1,000 on Pro); beyond that, flat packs you prepay never expire between billing cycles. Nothing is metered per stop or per message, and Routella warns you before any charge.

Question 5

Which countries does Routella work in?

Accepted Answer

Everywhere — there are no geographic restrictions on which country a business can operate from or dispatch to. The customer-facing tracking page automatically detects and renders in 195 languages, including full right-to-left support for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu, so each customer reads it in their own language with no configuration. SMS delivery notifications reach over 100 countries (not yet the US, UK or Canada) at country-specific rates billed from the prepaid wallet. All 28 store integrations and the Custom API connector work with stores and orders worldwide.

Question 6

Do you offer annual discounts?

Accepted Answer

Not yet — every Routella plan is billed month-to-month in USD with no annual commitment and no long-term contract. Cancel, downgrade, or upgrade any time from Settings without penalty. The built-in commitment rewards come through add-on usage: prepaid SMS wallet top-ups earn bonus credits (+10% at $50, +15% at $150, +20% at $500, or +25% at $1,000 depending on the recharge amount), and Smart Routing packs purchased beyond the monthly allocation never expire — so higher-volume operations benefit from economies of scale without requiring an annual subscription.
